[he parks the car near the beach boardwalk and steps out]

Bring the whiskey with you.

[he grabs a tote bag from the trunk of the car and removes his shoes before heading out onto the sand, setting up a large picnic blanket to sit down upon]

[ he picks up the bottle with a hand and uses his free hand to hop out of the car, kicking off his shoes before walking over to join him ]

[he takes out a small lantern and lights it with a match so they have a little more light between them aside from the moon and the distant streetlights]

If I could have brought a record player, I would have, but it's a bit cumbersome.

[he takes out his phone and slowly, carefully messes with it for a few minutes like he's trying to solve a puzzle]

[raven... looks a little anxious for a moment, and doesn't answer]

--oh, here it is.

[he presses something on the screen, and music begins to play: an old tune, like a jazzy waltz. raven gets to his feet and stands in front of dante, taking a sweeping bow and holding his hand out]

May I have this dance, Dante?

he laughs and then stands, taking his hand ]

[places his other hand on dante's shoulder, leaning in close as he starts to sway to the music]

still he goes along with it, a wry smile on his face as he moves with him ]

Hey, if you're givin' me free drinks I'll humor a lot.

[lowers his eyes]

[not meeting his eyes, just swaying to the music, dddddddon't look too closely at his face--]

It's... the season for gift-giving. I got you things, of course, but to be perfectly frank it's all... selfish gifts. Oh, I think you'll like some of it, but I won't pretend I didn't purchase them for my own sake, rather than yours.

[wets his lips, pausing before continuing]

Anyway, I, ah... I... wanted to... do something for you.

[ there's a beat, before he ... nods, and rests his free hand against Raven's back. he's still uncertain about Raven's -- tone on all this, but. ]

You didn't have to, y'know.

[some of the tension in him releases, little by little]

I know. And... like I said. I'm being selfish.

[his hand on dante's shoulder moves to drape along the back of his neck]

But we are, still... brothers, or something like it.

[ he laughs, quiet, his wings flexing a bit ]

[he lowers his eyes and stays quiet for a while, just swaying; and then he places his head on dante's chest, his ear over his heart, listening]

[ he tenses -- he doesn't go still but he doesn't say anything, either, waiting for Raven to continue. ]

[there's a moment of silence, and then raven just smooths his hands over dante's chest and leans back, shaking his head]

Never mind. Come, I want to see you in the presents I bought. Take off your shirt.

[ he tries not to make it obvious but it's still visible the way he relaxes, and he cracks a smile as he moves to tug his shirt off ]

[he takes a seat on the picnic blanket and retrieves his first gift from the bag he brought; a black velvet shirt, loose and comfortable for the cooler weather]

Try it on. It may not be quite your style, but... well, I did my best to avoid ruffles and lace.

[ he'll stay standing and lean down, taking the shirt and moving to slip it on. putting anything on with his wings if a bit of an adventure but he makes it! eventually! ]
