[It pushes him off balance, sliding back. He catches himself in a wide stance, one hand to the ground, face in the lake. He doesn't bother doing anything but shaking it out, just enough to see, because he has to rush back in immediately.]

You could put -- a little more effort into it!

[ of Dante's positive qualities, de-escalating situations is not one of them

he rolls back and to the side again as Vergil shoots for him, once again whipping out his pistols to take shots as he approaches, try to get him off his guard ]

[He's far from at his best, too riled up and focused on what's being said, and the bullets and -- he doesn't react in time.]

[Can't do much once he's in the air and falling but take the blow. He's thrown down into the lake with a splash, and only rises so quickly to get his head out. Staggering a moment but determined to act unfazed, he falls into a ready stance again. Trying to compose himself.]

Then don't ever say I didn't try to extend an olive branch.
